Born in Chile and raised in Belgium, Hannelore is a photographer and a creative entrepreneur, but most of all, she’s a storyteller.
In 2009, after graduating with a degree in photography, she embarked on her first assignment: Jimmy Nelson’s Before They Pass Away project. For almost three years, she travelled to the most remote places on Earth and assisted Nelson as he captured the planet’s last remaining indigenous tribes.
Hannelore documented this epic journey in her bestselling book, Before They Pass Away: the stories behind the photos.
She’s now working on her biggest undertaking yet: Human Playground, a photo book, art prints and a Netflix Original documentary series about sport, culture and tradition. Hannelore is the creator and photographer of this unique multimedia production.
Hannelore’s journey around the world meeting the planet’s last remaining indigenous tribes has now culminated in her biggest undertaking yet: Human Playground, a photo book, art prints and Netflix Original documentary series about sport, culture and tradition. This unique multimedia production brings modern and traditional sports together for the first time.
It’s a collection of the most fascinating, extreme and primal ways humans use sport to express who they are. Ultimately, the story weaving through Human Playground is an entertaining and thought-provoking observation of a human evolutionary constant: PLAY.
